Was there a specific moment when you realized trail running was your passion? What is your starting-to-run story?
I can vividly recall the moment I realized trail running was more than just a physical activity for me. I had always been a runner, but one day, I decided to go on a long run in nature. Feeling my feet connect with the earth, hearing the sounds of birds, the strong wind, and finally reaching the summit to witness the breathtaking view—it all deeply moved me. I realized this wasn’t just an activity for my body; it was something that nourished my soul. From that day on, trail running became an essential part of my life.
What’s a common misconception about trail running that you’d like to dispel?
A lot of people think trail running is only for professional athletes or that it’s overwhelmingly difficult. This simply isn’t true. Trail running offers opportunities for every level, from beginners to seasoned runners. It’s a journey of discovery and exploration, not just a competition. I hope more people realize that it’s accessible to everyone and try it for themselves.
What are you looking for in trail running—peace of mind or a challenge? Do you prefer technical or relaxed trails?
For me, it’s both. I enjoy technical trails because they challenge me physically and mentally, requiring strategy and balance with every step. The natural obstacles, like rocky terrains and steep climbs, give me a sense of accomplishment. But trail running is also about finding peace and connecting with nature. Every trail offers something unique—whether it’s a quiet, meditative run or a physically demanding challenge.
