Over the past days, our team has been working tirelessly through rain and snow to prepare Kaçkar by UTMB. The Kaçkar Mountains are a land of raw beauty and untamed nature, and with this wilderness come challenges that sometimes require us to make difficult decisions.
After thorough evaluation, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel the Kaçkar 100K race. We explored every possible alternative to preserve it, and while our wish was to share with you the highest and wildest peaks of the Kaçkar Mountains, the recent heavy snowfalls at high altitudes have created avalanche risks that make it impossible to guarantee a safe race in those areas.
Your safety has always been and will always remain our top priority. Every decision we make is guided by our commitment to ensuring that each of you reaches the finish line safe and sound.
The Kaçkar 20K and 50K races will take place as scheduled. The Kaçkar 20K course remains unchanged, and an updated GPX file for the 50K - highlighting a safe yet equally adventurous and scenic section of the trail — is now available on our website.
Runners registered for the Kaçkar 100K will have the option to switch to either the 20K or 50K distance and receive a 15% discount for the 2026 edition on the distance of your choice. Should you choose not to participate this year, you will be entitled to a 30% discount for the 2026 edition on the distance of your choice.
We know the dedication, passion, and countless hours of training you have invested in preparing for the 100K, and we share your disappointment deeply. At the same time, this first edition of Kaçkar by UTMB remains a historic moment - a chance to experience the stunning valleys, forests, and trails of this unique region together.
