RACE DAY INFORMATION
AID STATIONS RULES
Designated aid stations provide a chance to refuel, rehydrate, and take a short break. You will find snacks, food, and drinks, shelter, and toilet facilities.
To enter the aid station, you must wear a race bib number. Your clock doesn’t stop at the aid station. Most aid stations have cutoff time and missing it means withdrawal from the race. For detailed aid stations locations and cutoff times, please visit the dedicated race page.
All aid stations will provide you with a variety of snacks and drinks, while some of them will also offer you a warm meal.
Our Bring-Your-Own-Utensils policy states that you won’t be able to get a warm meal without your own cup or bowl.
PERSONAL ASSISTANT "SUPPORT"
Kaçkar 50K can have allowed assistance (support crew) at dedicated aid stations. This is the time to assist runners (equipment, food, etc.) and spend time together.
Assistants are only allowed in the aid station with a Support Crew wristband. You will not be able to enter this area without it.
Dedicated aid station for personal assistance:
- Galer
Please note, personal assistance is prohibited outside this aid station.
Assistants can carry a bag up to 30L with the necessary equipment to refill the runner. Assistants cannot provide any medical assistance outside minor help like applying blisters or massaging.
FACILITIES AND SUPPLIES FOR FEMALE PARTICIPANTS
Female-only toilets will be available at the Start/Finish area and at some aid stations where toilet facilities are provided.
Menstrual products are stocked at these locations, usually inside the aid stations. If you are unable to find them or if supplies need replenishing, please speak to an Event Team volunteer at the aid station, who will be happy to help.
ENVIRONMENTAL GUIDELINES
We are committed to creating a positive impact on the world. We are dedicated to preserving the beautiful environment we run in and leaving a positive legacy in the Kaçkar Mountains.
- Bring Your Own Utensils (BYOU): Single-use cups, bowls, and cutlery are prohibited; please bring your own reusable alternatives.
- No Littering: You’ll receive litter bags before the start. Dispose of them only at aid stations.
- Stay on Course: Cutting marked trails accelerates erosion and harms local habitats. You will be penalized for not following the route. You will see high-visibility markers that guide you along the course.
- Natural Water Sources: In addition to aid-station supply, you’ll find vetted natural water sources along the route. Look for safe markings.
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Medical staff are available to assist any participant experiencing health issues.
Participant in trouble, or seriously hurt, needs to call for help as follows:
- Informing staff on arrival at an aid station.
- Informing emergency medical staff on route.
- By calling the Event Control emergency phone.
- By asking another participant to call the Event Control emergency phone.
- By using the SOS function on the LiveTrail app.
- By using the SOS function on the GPS tracker (KAÇKAR 50K only)
- By using your headtorch and whistle to attract attention.
As part of the competition, every runner must provide assistance to any person you see in danger and alert the organisers.
Save the emergency numbers of the Event Command Center:
- +90 (537) 271 07 36
- +90 (537) 271 07 17
SAFETY TRACKING
As you conquer the Kaçkar Mountains, our command center will be watching over you every step of the way.
We’re partnering with OWAKA to track your progress in real time and respond quickly if you need help.
All 50K runners will receive an OWAKA tracker at no cost. You must keep the tracker on you for the entire race. The device is lightweight (140 g) and compact, making it easy to fit in your pocket or hand.
Our command center will track your route live and coordinate support in case of emergency. Your device includes an “Assistance” button to call for help if needed.
In addition to our safety tracking, friends and family can follow your progress on the LiveTrail app.
Your phone must remain switched on. Under no circumstances should it be set to airplane mode during the race.
WITHDRAWING FROM THE RACE
During the race, if you become injured or are unable to continue, you must make your way to the nearest aid station. This may be the one ahead of you or the one you have just passed.
For safety reasons, participants can only withdraw at an official aid station. This ensures our team knows exactly who has left the race. The only exception is in the event of a serious injury, where the Medical Team may arrange an extraction.
Withdrawn runners will be transported back to the race finish in Ayder by our Transport Team volunteers. Please note that this may take several hours depending on demand.
